We made a stop at Urban Ark before going to Turnaround for the free meal because it was inbetween the library and the building where we were going to get our free meal. Chad took the time to speak to some of the people while i spoke to Joe fleming who has been a volunteer with UrbanArk for 14 years this year. This is one
This is one of the coolest things we get to encounter on this trip. People just like Joe who have given their lives to serve and love on the city of Canton.
One of the most profound things that Joe said off tape was that when he retired at 62 from a good job the lord had blessed him with he thought about getting a parttime job but then he said to himself that since God had blessed him so much over his life and had given him a great job he wanted to offer the rest of life to serve others and he has done so for the last 20 years. He is now 82 and living with no regrets. He says the feeling he gets from serving is the best feeling in the world because he just loves serving God. At the end before i left he laid hands on me and prayed a blessing.
Folks this is the type of guy we want to be when we are retired and 82 years old. Serving our cities and loving Jesus with all our strength wherever he calls us to.
So many end up bitter and angry in their old age but some become sweet and tender and love Jesus with more seal than in their twenties.
if you want to join joe Urban Ark serves every tuesday 11:45-2pm and every first and third thursday evenings 6:45-7:30pm of every month.
